Description

CARI! participated in the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) 2023 at the United Nations Conference Center (UNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand, from 27 to 30 March 2023. The Forum serves as a place for identifying regional trends and sharing best practices and lessons learned related to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In one of the side events, CARI! supported the United Cities and Local Governments - Asia Pacific Region (UCLG ASPAC) in organizing an Expert Group Meeting (EGM) session to discuss and deliberate the updates for the 11th CEE Criteria, Environment and Climate Change Governance.

The EGM is an important step for updating the CEE Rating in Asia Pacific 2023 edition and for developing CEE Rating on Environment and Climate Change Governance (11th Criteria), as part of the Urban-Act Project, an initiative of UCLG ASPAC in collaboration with UNESCAP and GIZ.

Following the events in Bangkok, CARI! participated in two sessions of the 2023 UCLG Asia Pacific Executive Bureau Meeting, namely the Plenary Session: Knowledge Sharing on Inter-Municipal Cooperation on Resilient and Sustainable Cities, and the City Enabling Environment (CEE) Rating Session, which were held in Kathmandu, Nepal, on April 11-13, 2023.

In the Plenary Session: Knowledge Sharing on Inter-Municipal Cooperation on Resilient and Sustainable Cities on April 12, CARI!’s Principal, Dr. Mizan Bisri, spoke about the CEE Ratings in Asia Pacific and the new CEE Rating on Criteria 11, Climate Change. In the City Enabling Environment (CEE) Rating Session on April 13, Dr. Bisri served as the speaker and facilitator for the country assessment process,  CEE Rating 2023 data collection form tryout, and regional group discussion on the role and responsibility of LGAs in the CEE Rating assessment.
