Description

CARI! has been supporting Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) in conducting a Feasibility Study on Forecast-Based Early Action (FBEA) in East Jakarta and Alor from December 2022 to March 2023. This initiative aims to enhance inclusive and gender-responsive forecast-based early action for effective disaster preparedness by strengthening the awareness, capacity, and resilience of local communities and actors and engaging them in policy dialogue through evidence-based advocacy.

On April 10, 2023, to conclude the initiative, CARI! supported WVI in conducting a sharing session to share the result of the feasibility study. During this activity, which involved the Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG), the Regional Agency for Disaster Management (BPBD), and other relevant stakeholders, CARI! had the opportunity to convey the results of the study as well as discuss the feasibility situation of the two locations, gaps, and recommendations for areas that need to be strengthened for the FBEA initiation. Dr. Mizan Bisri, CARI!’s Principal, delivered the result presentation, sharing the overviews, brief risk profiles, findings, summaries, and recommendations of the study.

Through this study, by utilizing Red Cross’ FBEA Manual Guidelines, and optimizing knowledge discovery through CARI! Engine and in-depth understanding of knowledge pattern on EWS through IDKU, CARI! has generated evidence-based & scientific profiling of risk, access & quality of EWS, and potential for FBEA for Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta, and Malaipea & Welai Selatan Villages, Alor District.
