In 2021, CARI! supported the Emergency Operations Center (Pusdalops) of the National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) through the INVEST DM 2.0 Program in conducting a technical study for the development of a “Guideline for The Calculation of The Number of Death Caused by Disasters”. The technical study is done through substantial reviews of related literature (desk reviews) of death calculation methods from BNPB and other sources, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), as well as a series of workshops to conduct testing and discussions for the design of the guideline.

The guideline will be used as i) a guideline in calculating BNPB's Strategic Target Performance Indicators (IKSS) and ii) a calculation for the need to monitor the achievement of target A1 of the Sendai Framework.
